Vadodara Gas Limited (VGL)is a Joint Venture Company (JVC) formed between GAIL Gas Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL (India) Limited) and Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC). Incorporated on September 13, 2013, VGL commenced operations on October 1, 2014, with the objective of developing and expandingCity Gas Distribution (CGD) infrastructure in Vadodara and its adjoining areas.
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has granted exclusive authorization to VGL for laying, building, and expanding the Vadodara District City Gas Distribution Network covering Vadodara and Chhotaudepur districts.
VGL is committed to providing a safer, more convenient, economical, and environment-friendly fuel alternative to a diverse consumer base, including households, commercial establishments, industries, and automobiles. Additionally, VGL has 63.46 km of steel pipelines dedicated to CNG distribution. The company dispenses over 1,60,922 kg of CNG per day, catering to more than 1,05,000 automobile consumers, including auto-rickshaws, cars, buses, and light commercial vehicles.
Beyond its environmental benefits, CNG provided by VGL is a cost-effective alternative to conventional automotive fuels such as Motor Spirit (MS) and High-Speed Diesel (HSD). It significantly reduces the operational costs of vehicles while contributing to a cleaner and greener environment.
Vadodara Gas Limited (VGL) provides Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers through a well-established pipeline network. Currently, VGL supplies PNG to 2,71,657 households, 2,948 commercial establishments, and 54 industrial units. The company operates an extensive infrastructure, including over 4,213 km of MDPE pipeline network and 10 District Pressure Regulating Systems (DPRS), ensuring a safe, reliable, and uninterrupted gas supply. With a strong focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, VGL continues to expand its PNG network, offering a cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative to conventional fuels.
Vadodara Gas Limited (VGL) is expanding its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) infrastructure to enhance natural gas accessibility for industrial and automotive consumers. VGL currently supplies LNG-based Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to industrial units in Waghodia GIDC using an LNG terminal-based methodology.
To further strengthen its LNG footprint, VGL has initiated the development of an LNG dispensing facility for long-haul transport vehicles along the Golden Quadrilateral Corridor (Phase I) at Por NH 48. An agreement has been signed for this facility, which will also supply LNG-based CNG for automobiles and PNG to domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers in and around Por.
Additionally, VGL has signed another Agreement for an LNG dispensing facility at Manjusar, Savli, following the same supply methodology. These facilities are expected to be commissioned during FY 2024-25, further advancing VGL’s commitment to providing clean, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions.
Vadodara Gas Limited (VGL) is committed to expanding its CNG Distribution Network to ensure wider accessibility across the city and its adjoining areas. The company aims to enhance CNG dispensing infrastructure to meet the growing demand for clean energy.
In the coming years, VGL plans to supply PNG to an additional 30,000 households and 120 commercial and industrial establishments, further strengthening its consumer base. Additionally, VGL is set to commence gas supply to Jarod, Nandesari, and Padra this year, reinforcing its commitment to providing reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable energy solutions.
